Samsung is preparing a new model. It is Samsung S5260 Star II. The information has been already leaked out and it is definitely verified that Samsung S5260 Star II is an successor of Samsung’s best-selling touch screen phone, the original Samsung Star (S5230).

It is expected to be in stores in February. Hopefully Samsung will keep their promise, but we have to wait to see the official announcement. It is a touch screen smartphone and it will have a some features improved and bumped up in aspect of the last Star model.

It runs on Samsung’s Touch Wiz interface. Display is medium-sized of 3 inches and can support 26.000 /256k shades of color with the resolution of 240 x 400 pixels. OS is not confirmed yet, but it resembles to Samsung’s Bada OS. Samsung bada is a smartphone platform, which was released in 2010 and it is Korean word for ‘ocean’. Platform has been designed to give more cost-effective smartphones to customers. First bada operating platform smartphone was Samsung Wave released in June 2010. The price information that has leaked is €125, which is a very acceptable price for this kind of feature phone. This indicates that it is going to aim mainstream and cost-aware target group, and the price is set for Netherlands.

Samsung’s recognizable styling and high device functionality are present as well. It is slim, light and eye-catching; it is going to weight just 94 g (3,25 oz), with dimensions of 108.8 x 53.7 x 12.4 mm in black and white color. And will easily fit into every pocket and small purses. Like most other phones it has stereo FM radio and camera. Radio is with RDS and camera is 3.2 / 3.0 megapixel with a digital zoom. Li-ion battery is of 1000 mAh and gives you around 10 hours of talk time and 800 hours of stand-by time. Internal memory storage space is 30MB and it can be increased, using micro SD card slot, to 16GB.

For typing purposes you will have to use T9 Trace keyboard, which is not the first choice for many customers. If you are not texting in English language it can be a bit irritating. It offers the first choice from the dictionary for the sequence of key presses and then lets the user to choose with more presses predefined Next key. In any way, if you are not used to T9 it will take you some adapting.
